You’re probs right, I dunno if white coat syndrome has a formalized definition. I wrote it as that cause that’s what statpearls says, and I think people will get the idea. I do think tho that people with white coat syndrome might not have it as much if they measure it at their chemist for example because they might be less stressed. If you find a formal definition, or feel strongly about it I’m happy to change it @Stapedius

I agree an exact definition is a bit hard to find; White-Coat Hypertension: Pathophysiological and Clinical Aspects: Excellence Award for Hypertension Research 2020 - PMC however this article quotes the European Cardiology society which defines it more objectively as “a condition in which office blood pressure (BP) is elevated while out-of-office BP (ambulatory or home BP) is normal”, with office being defined as any "healthcare clinic/setting). I think this better fits imo.
