Information on action at 5-HT is already covered by nid:1485219985329; Extra of that card just notes that 5-HT2A antagonism reduces likelihood of extrapyramidal symptoms and not that it helps exert the antipsychotic effects. Going just based off that I wouldn’t add here.
Working off memory and a light google search, but doesn’t 5-HT work on the negative symptoms while D2 helps with positive symptoms? Could clarify that in extra if we want to add this
@Ahmed7 @Sameem @Cameron @thomas.holmes @shmuelsash @zarathustra - UW says “Second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs) are serotonin 2A and dopamine D2 antagonists. The added serotonin receptor binding and lower dopamine binding affinity of SGAs reduce the likelihood of extrapyramidal adverse effects.” The question specifically asks MOA, and answer is BOTH. I would lean towards adding.
Needs more votes to accept, @Cameron also has a good point, but in my opinion it should be added here as well.
Wouldnt adding here make the other card a duplicate?
you’re correct, we can mark as dupe but need to send to slack first, anyone agree also?
