Bumping this thread. There seems to be a lot of controversy around this card - please can it be cleared up? @alabdull has given a good rationale.

What does the answer explanation say in this UW question?
Supplemental oxygen addresses hypoxemia but has the negative effect of reversing HPVC. This increases blood flow to low V/Q areas while “stealing” it from high V/Q areas. The relative hypoperfusion in the latter areas further increases the already high V/Q ratios, worsening alveolar dead space and hypercapnia. High O2 levels also displace CO2 from hemoglobin into the blood (Haldane effect), further contributing to hypercapnia.
