I have a Core membership but this notif keeps popping up when I try to sync with AnkiHub. I’m worried this will prevent updates to cards from downloading to my advice.
I emailed the support email address a while ago but never got a response. Would appreciate any insight/help on how to make this notification go away!

This popup usually means AnkiHub thinks your account doesn’t have an active paid subscription on the account you’re currently logged into in Anki.
A few things to check:
-
Confirm the right account in AnkiHub
- In your browser, go to AnkiHub, click your avatar → Settings → Billing and confirm:
- The Core membership is active (not expired / canceled).
- Note the email/username of this account.
-
Make sure Anki add-on is using that same account
- In Anki, go to Tools → Add-ons → AnkiHub → Config (or AnkiHub → Log out if available).
- Log out of AnkiHub inside Anki.
- Then log back in with the exact same email as the account that has the Core membership.
- Restart Anki and try syncing again.
-
Check for multiple AnkiHub accounts
- If you might have created more than one account (e.g., school vs personal email), it’s common to:
- Have the subscription on account A, but
- Be logged into account B in Anki → you’ll see this “requires active membership” message even though you’re paying.
-
If it still shows the message
- Please reply here with:
- The AnkiHub username/email that has the Core membership (you can mask part of the email, e.g.
bri***@gmail.com).
- The AnkiHub username/email shown under AnkiHub → Account in Anki.
- Your AnkiHub add-on version (Anki → Tools → Add-ons → AnkiHub → View Files →
manifest.json shows the version).
I don’t have access to your billing profile, so if everything above looks correct and the popup persists, the next step is:
- Open a ticket via the in-app form:
Go to AnkiHub Help → Contact support and include:
- Link to this community topic
- Screenshots of:
- Your Billing page showing active Core membership
- The account info in the AnkiHub add-on in Anki
- The exact error popup
That will let the AnkiHub team directly verify your subscription and fix the account linkage.
Hello,
I would be happy to help.
I can’t see a record of your having reached out to our support channel before, but I’d be happy to take a look for you. Can you clarify for me the username as well as email of the account into which you’re logged in?
Provided that info it should be a bit easier to be of help
Hi, sorry for the late reply. The username is brianjcheng and email is brian.cheng@westernu.edu
I do show your account as currently active. Just to make sure: can you double-check that you are logged into the correct account?
It is often the case that folks have more than one account and this would be the first thing we’d want to rule out
Similarly, you can always check the status of your account by logging into AnkiHub.net:
- Go to https://app.ankihub.net/
- Navigate to your settings by clicking Settings at the top of the page.
- Scroll down to ‘Billing and Plans’ (at the bottom of thepage).
Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with.
I see my membership is active, but I still keep getting the notification. Would this mean my deck won’t sync or update properly?
You might double-check that you’re logged into the same account within Anki; that you’re logged into a separate account within the app would be the likeliest thing to check first just to be certain
