I have multiple cards showing up like this as I review and try to edit them. The cards were fine before I unlocked them yesterday. What can I do about this?

Reading: Anking cards not showing up when reviewing or editing
That usually happens when AnKing’s Notetype or fields get changed/corrupted (often during unlocking or importing).
Try these steps:
-
Confirm the notetype is correct
- Open one of the broken cards → click Cards…
- At the top, check the note type name (e.g. AnKing Overhaul v11 – Cloze).
- Compare to a card that’s displaying correctly.
- If it’s using a different notetype, you may have accidentally switched it when unlocking.
-
Restore the AnKing notetypes from the deck
- In the Browser, search for a good AnKing card that still shows normally.
- Select it → Cards… → click the down arrow ▾ next to the note type name → Manage…
- Look for the correct AnKing note type (e.g. AnKing Overhaul v11 – Cloze). If you see duplicates or odd ones, that’s a sign something was changed.
-
Move broken cards back to the correct note type
- In the Browser, search for your broken cards.
- Select a few test notes → Notes → Change Note Type…
- Choose the correct AnKing note type and make sure the fields line up properly (e.g. Text → Text, Extra → Extra, images → Image etc.).
- Apply the change and see whether the cards display normally again.
-
If the issue started exactly after unlocking on AnkiHub
- Make sure you:
- Synced Anki and AnkiHub fully.
- Didn’t import another deck or add-on that modified the AnKing note types.
- If you recently updated or switched to a different AnKing version, mention exactly which deck/version you’re using in a reply.
- Make sure you:
If you’re not sure how to map the fields or which notetype to pick, please:
- Post a screenshot of:
- The Cards… window for a broken note, and
- The Change Note Type… window (field mapping screen).
- Also share which AnKing version (e.g. v11, v12) and whether you’re using AnkiHub syncing on that deck.
That info will make it much easier to give you precise, click‑by‑click instructions.
Hello,
I’ll be happy to help. First, I need to know which decks you are referring to, as I see that you are subscribed to a lot of decks on AnkiHub.
From the screenshot, I can’t tell which deck this card is from, and it seems this card is not from an AnkiHub deck because the “View on AnkiHub” button is grayed out, meaning the card only exists locally in your Anki. If that’s the case, the card is not from an AnkiHub deck, and we do not have any control over it.
First, make sure you do not have important fields protected so the content can be downloaded from AnkiHub to your Anki. For instance, for the AnKing Step deck, I see that you have the Extra field protected. Please follow this tutorial and unprotect the Extra field: How to Manage Protected Fields
Then, please follow this tutorial to reset local changes, after which your deck should be the exact same as everyone else’s: How to Reset Local Changes
Thank you!
