I bought the Anking Step Deck 2 days ago, and the deck is in Idle mode when I media-sync it.
No access to first aid illustrations, and incomplete sketchy, etc.
How do I resolve it?

Media sync showing āIdleā is actually normal behavior a lot of the timeāit just means AnkiHub isnāt currently transferring any files. The missing images usually come from something else. Letās go through the common causes and fixes:
If you imported an old or wrong .apkg, you may see cards but not have the media shared via AnkiHub.
In Anki on your computer:
If it quickly returns to Idle and downloads almost nothing, continue below.
Pick a few cards that should have:
If the card editor shows broken media (e.g., [sound:...] or an empty image box) instead of actual filenames, that may mean:
In that case, itās not an AnkiHub āstuckā issue; itās a content/licensing question for the Step Deck.
This helps rule out add-on conflicts or a broken install:
If media works in the new profile but not your main one, something in the original profile is interfering (conflicting add-ons, damaged media folder, etc.).

Hello,
I would be happy to help. ![]()
āidleā is the normal state for media sync to be in if there is not currently anything additional to sync. On its own, that wonāt necessarily be indication that anything is amiss, really
Unfortunately, because FirstAid is proprietary, AnkiHub is not able to provide that media so there isnāt anything to sync there, Iām sorry to say.
At least on that front, there isnāt a lot there to resolve, unfortunately. If you can help me understand how you mean āincomplete Sketchyā Iād be happy to help you troubleshoot any other issues you might be running into, though
The more context you can share the easier it may be to be of help. Screenshots are ideal, if you can, just so I can see what youāre seeing
Hello,
Thank you very much for your quick response. I realize I should have provided more context in my original message.
Iāve attached a screenshot to better illustrate what Iām seeing. As shown, the First Aid section is completely blank, and no First Aid illustrations or pages appear within the cards. Several friends of mine are using the same AnKing deck and have the corresponding First Aid content displayed, which is why I was concerned that something may not be configured correctly / idling media sync on my end.
Regarding Sketchy, the images have become present, but other resources such as Pathoma and First Aid appear to be missing or incomplete. For example, the Sketchy field displays content, whereas the Pathoma and First Aid fields remain empty.
Would it be possible that this is related to my AnkiHub subscription level (Basic vs. Premium), or are these resources expected to be unavailable regardless of membership tier?
Thank you again for your help. I appreciate any guidance you can provide.
Of course, happy to help anytime. ![]()
Unfortunately, I canāt say much about your friendās collections without more context. I can say, though, that if they have any FirstAid media that it wonāt have come from AnkiHub. Beyond that, I donāt know that I can be of much help there, Iām sorry to say
Pathoma, like FirstAid, is largely proprietary, and so we arenāt necessarily able to share all of their content. What we do share has to come with their permission, which is sometimes limited.
No, it wonāt be related to that. From what youāve described, it sounds like everything is working as intended.
If itās helpful, you can find a bit more info here as regards the specific media that is, and is not, contained and available within the AnKing Step deck: AnKing Step Deck Wiki
Please let me know if that answers your question, and if thereās anything else I can help with. ![]()
Thank you for your reply. I completely understand that First Aid content is proprietary and that AnkiHub is unable to distribute those images.
However, after reviewing a wide variety of subjects and tags throughout the deck, I have not come across a single card containing a First Aid note or illustration. When I compare the exact same cards with friends who are using the same AnKing deck, their cards consistently display the corresponding First Aid images, while mine do not.
Because this appears to be affecting the entire deck rather than just a handful of cards, I was wondering whether there may be an issue with my setup or if I could be missing some component of the media installation. I have also run Ankiās āCheck Mediaā function, which only reports 31 missing files, so it does not appear that thousands of First Aid images are missing from my collection.
Any guidance on what might be causing this would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah, that is the case. FirstAid, being proprietary, we are unable to provide or distribute those images. It is normal for there not to be any FA images anywhere in the deck, as we are not permitted to share that material and so cannot provide it.
Again here, I canāt say much about your friendās collections, including what sources of material they may have come across. I can say that any FA images wonāt have come from AnkiHub, that much Iām fairly certain of.
Beyond that, I donāt have a way to know how they would have obtained those images, though your best bet may be to check in with them. It is likely that if they obtained other media than what is included from AnkiHub they may be the best source of information as to share with you how they went about that.
From everything youāve described, I donāt see that there are currently any issues present. Everything appears to be functioning as-intended from all that youāve shared. ![]()
