Cannot log into Ankihub from Anki

Hi! I am trying to down load the deck on Anki and am prompted to sign into AnkiHub of which I am already a subscriber. However, It will not let me select United States of America when it asks where I currently live?

It sounds like you’re running into a bug on the country selection step of the AnkiHub login in Anki.

A few quick things to try:

  1. Update everything first

    • In Anki: go to Tools → Add-ons → AnkiHub → View Files and confirm you’re on the latest AnkiHub add‑on version (or just click Check for Updates in the Add-ons window and restart Anki).
    • Also make sure Anki itself is updated to a recent stable version.
  2. Try logging in via browser first

    • Open a normal web browser and go to: https://www.ankihub.net
    • Log in there with your AnkiHub account.
    • Confirm your country is correctly set in your profile / account settings if that option appears.
    • Then go back to Anki and try the AnkiHub login again.
  3. Workaround for the country selector

    • If the drop‑down won’t let you pick “United States of America,” try:
      • Typing “United” or “USA” in the field (if it’s searchable), or
      • Clicking just above/below where the option should be and using the arrow keys + Enter to select it.
    • If you’re on Windows, also try switching to a different display scaling temporarily (e.g., 100%) in case it’s a UI/zoom bug.
  4. Try a different environment

    • If possible, try logging into AnkiHub from another device or OS (e.g., Mac vs Windows) inside Anki, just to see if the issue is device‑specific.

If none of that works:

  • Please share:
    • Your operating system (Windows/Mac/Linux) and version
    • Your Anki version (Help → About in Anki)
    • A screenshot of the country selection screen showing that “United States of America” can’t be selected

That info will help us narrow down whether this is a known bug with the current AnkiHub add‑on or something specific to your setup.

Please follow these steps to resolve this issue:

  1. Update Anki:
Please ensure you are on the latest version of Anki. You can download it here: https://apps.ankiweb.net/. After downloading, simply run the downloaded file to update your application.

  2. Update AnkiHub in Safe Mode:

  • Start Anki in safe mode by holding down the Shift key while you open it.
  • On your Anki main screen, go to Tools > Add-ons > Check for Updates.
  • After the update is complete, please restart Anki.
  1. Configure Your Profile:
  • After the updates are done, log in to your account on AnkiHub.net (http://ankihub.net/).
  • Click on ‘Settings’ at the top of the page.
  • Fill out the ‘Study Preferences’ tab as shown below.
  1. Final Restart:
Close and reopen Anki normally (without holding Shift) to see if you’re all set.
