Gotcha, thatās progress at least. ![]()
Itās hard for me to say exactly why she might have more cards. It could be for a few reasons:
- She might have older cards in her local collection that are not in the AnkiHub deck that she has not deleted.
- She might have cards in her local collection that have not yet been suggested to the AnkiHub deck.
- They could be unrelated cards? I canāt know much about the state of a userās local collection, unfortunateluy, so itās a little hard to say
As for the subdeck part, I also show that there are not many cards in that particular subdeck:
She appears to have more cards in that subdeck than I do, so again here she may have additional old cards, or additional new cards
Separate, but related, it appears that you have far more cards in that subdeck than either she or I do. Likely here, there may be a discrepancy between your local collection and the AnkiHub collection (hence why her cards, and my cards, donāt quite look like yours)
An easy example; in the image you shared:
I see that this particular card is physically located in the āREUMAā subdeck for you, though looking at the tags for that card, the tag says it should be in MIR::Conceptos_MIR, rather than REUMA
In this case, it looks like your local card position does not match the tags for the subdeck. Itās in āREUMAā but the tags list it as being in āConceptos_MIRā. I imagine this is why, for example, the āBorrelia burgdoferiā card shows up in your REUMA subdeck, but shows up in Conceptos_MIR for me (because the tags dictate this)
Using this card as an example, if you would like for the āBorreliaā card to show up in the REUMA subdeck, you would want to change the subdeck tag to reflect the deck in which you would like for it to be located, then suggest (and accept) that change. This would then ensure that the card is āassignedā to the proper subdeck
Separately, though, and this may or may not matter but Iāll list it here: AnkiHub can make sure that, for a new user, if they download the deck, the cards are going to be placed in the proper subdecks. But, for an existing user, AnkiHub does not impose card location. Meaning, if you change the subdeck tags, this change will be reflected for Paula (and me), but it wonāt move the card from one subdeck to another subdeck in my local collection. This is to allow users to choose and modify their own subdeck organization (if they choose)
The cards will update information, tags, etc., but AnkiHub wonāt generally force them to change location, just FYI. Paula can likely āreset local changesā as above, though and this might do the trick (Iām not 100% on this, though).
Iāll try to summarize everything here, because I know it can be a lot:
- It looks like you might have some local stuff, that isnāt reflected on the AnkiHub copy of the deck (which is why Paulaās collection, and my collection, look different).
- You can make changes, and as long as you upload them, they should be available for other users once they sync.
- Subdeck location can be changed on the server copy, though it wonāt immediately move cards around in userās local collections (I believe resetting local changes may do this, though Iām not 100% on that, as AnkiHub tries pretty hard not to move peopleās cards around as a rule).
As a totally separate note, but as an example: if Paula were to completely delete the deck from her local collection, then reinstall it, all of the cards would appear in their ācorrectā subdeck location (since you have, essentially, installed the deck completely new). This would erase any review history, so isnāt ideal in a lot of cases, but it can be an option depending
Super short version:
- If you change subdeck tags, it will update tags for other users (but it will not move the cards to a different subdeck).
- If a user deletes and reinstalls the deck from scratch, it will make sure those cards are in the right location.
Existing users: AnkiHub tries not to move cards.
New users: AnkiHub will move the cards.
Give those things a look and let me know what you determine and/or find and we can go from there. Iāll do my best to make sure that you get fully resolved so hopefully you can spend more time studying and becoming a doctor than fiddling with Anki. ![]()
