Decks have changed completely

I am trying to add more cards to my deck and when I go to unsuspend the cards i noticed that a large chunk of the ankihub card for the MCAT deck are gone. The kaplan deck only has 6 cards available for biochem. The rest of the cards say that “Your Database appears to be in an inconsistent state. Please check datatbase action” I assume this is an Ankihub problem, any solution would be nice

I see you’re experiencing an issue with your MCAT deck in AnkiHub where cards appear to be missing and you’re getting a database inconsistency error. Let me help you with this situation.

Understanding Your Issue

The error message “Your Database appears to be in an inconsistent state. Please check database action” typically indicates that there might be some corruption or inconsistency in your Anki database that needs to be fixed.

How to Fix This

Here’s what I recommend doing:

  1. First, check your database integrity:

    • Go to Anki’s main screen
    • Click on Tools in the top menu
    • Select Check Database
    • This will scan your database for errors and fix any issues it finds
  2. Reset local changes in AnkiHub:

    • Go to Browse in your Anki
    • At the top, click on the AnkiHub add-on tab
    • Press Reset all local changes
    • This will restore everything to what AnkiHub has (unless you’ve specifically protected certain fields)
  3. Check media sync status:

    • In the AnkiHub add-on (top of Anki window)
    • Check if media sync shows as “idle” or “downloading”
    • If it’s downloading, wait for it to complete
  4. If problems persist:

    • Create a backup of your collection first
    • Try redownloading the deck from AnkiHub
    • You may need to unsubscribe and resubscribe to the deck

For the Kaplan Biochemistry Issue

If you’re specifically concerned about only having 6 cards for the Kaplan Biochemistry section, this might be resolved by the steps above. After fixing your database, you should see the full set of cards available.

If you need further assistance after trying these steps, please let us know what happened, and we can provide more specific guidance. The AnkiHub community is here to help!

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

I’m not sure that this is an AnkiHub problem, necessarily. Or, at least, I haven’t heard from anyone else having the same, or similar, problems. The message you shared appears to indicate that this is a local database issue, rather.

Just to check: have you tried using the ‘check database’ tool yet?

Give that a shot, let me know how you fare, and we’ll go from there and hopefully we can get you squared away.

So i tried it and it now looks like this on the main screen it said there 5 missing decks and 593 missing cards.

Yep, looks to be a local database issue with your Anki. Happens on occasion, though hard to say what would have caused it, but most likely an error within the Anki software itself

As I’m not sure what hiccup the software had, I’m somewhat limited in being able to solve it, but there are a couple of things we can try:

  • You can reset the deck, which will make sure that you’re not missing any cards, though it may not fix this funky layout you now seem to have (this won’t, generally, affect your review history or learning progress, FWIW, despite the name).
  • You can restore from a backup. This will restore your collection back to how it was at whatever point in time it is to which you choose to restore it.

This tutorial can walk you through how to reset the deck, if you’d like to try that: Resetting Local Changes

Or, this tutorial can walk you through how to restore from a backup: https://ior.ad/a7NJhttps://ior.ad/a7NJ

Restoring from a backup is probably the smarter move, and what I would try first. Restore from backup, make sure your collection looks okay (cards are all there, etc.), then check database again to clean up your local database and, hopefully, prevent the software from going sideways on you again.
