I tried all versions, all instructions until I even downloaded AnkiWeb? but it seem that itâs not supported anymore. How can I use AnkiHub on my device

On older Macs, the limiting factor is usually the macOS version Anki requires, not AnkiHub itself.
A few key points:
-
AnkiHub requires a recent Anki version
- The AnkiHub add-on only works with relatively new Anki 2.1 versions (and only with the Qt6 builds now).
- Older macOS versions (like the ones that ship with a 2015 MacBook Air) often canât run these newer Anki versions.
-
Check your macOS and Anki versions
- Click ïŁż â About This Mac and note the macOS version (e.g. 10.13 High Sierra, 10.15 Catalina, etc.).
- In Anki, go to Help â About and note the Anki version (e.g. 2.1.22, 2.1.35, 2.1.54, etc.).
- Post both versions here; that will tell us if your system can support any Anki version that AnkiHub works with.
-
If your macOS is too old
- If you canât install a recent enough Anki (the Qt6 builds), you unfortunately wonât be able to use the AnkiHub addâon on that Mac.
- In that case, options are:
- Use a newer computer (Windows/macOS) for Anki + AnkiHub.
- Use AnkiHub to manage decks and then export/import decks manually to an older Anki (you lose automatic sync of changes, but you can still study the cards).
- If possible, upgrade macOS on your 2015 Air to the newest it supports, then try installing the latest compatible Anki and AnkiHub again.
-
âAnkiWebâ vs AnkiHub
- AnkiWeb (Ankiâs own sync site) is separate from AnkiHub.
- AnkiHub does not replace AnkiWeb; you still need a compatible Anki desktop to use the AnkiHub addâon.
Could you reply with:
- Your macOS version
- Your Anki version
- What happens exactly when you try to install/run AnkiHub (error message, blank window, etc.)
With that info, I can tell you concretely whether your MacBook Air can support AnkiHub and what your best workaround is.

Thanks for the details, that helps a lot.
1. Is your MacBook Air compatible with AnkiHub?
- macOS: Monterey 12.7.6 â This is new enough to run current Anki Qt6 builds.
- Anki:
26.5-mac-intelâ This is one of the very latest Qt6 Anki versions, which is what AnkiHub requires.
So your hardware and OS are fine, and in principle you should be able to use the AnkiHub addâon on this MacBook Air.
2. Next step: what exactly goes wrong?
To narrow this down, could you reply with:
-
How you installed AnkiHub
- From within Anki via Tools â Addâons â Get Addâons and entering a code?
- Or by downloading a
.ankiaddonfile?
-
What happens when you try to use AnkiHub
- Do you get an error message (if yes, please paste the exact text or a screenshot)?
- Or does nothing happen when you click âAnkiHubâ in the Tools â Addâons list?
- Or does Anki crash / freeze?
-
Which addâon code / version you used (if you still have it).
3. Quick checks you can do now
While youâre gathering that info, try these:
-
In Anki:
- Go to Tools â Addâons
- Select AnkiHub and click Config
- If you can open the config window, the addâon is at least loading.
-
If Anki wonât start or AnkiHub seems to break it:
- Start Anki while holding down the Shift key â this disables addâons temporarily.
- If Anki opens that way, reâenable only AnkiHub and try again.
-
Confirm youâre using a supported Anki build:
- In Help â About, it should say something like
2.1.xx (Qt6)or2.1.xx (Standard build). - If itâs a special/beta build, let me know the full line.
- In Help â About, it should say something like
Once you tell me:
- Exactly what fails (installation vs. opening vs. syncing), and
- Any error messages or screenshots,
I can give you a concrete, stepâbyâstep fix tailored to your setup.
The latest Anki version (26.05) requires at least macOS 13. If youâre on an older OS, please try 25.09
