1. Missing Tags Issue

It seems your tags aren’t updating properly even after resubscribing. This could be happening for a few reasons:

  • Protected Tags: When you protect fields, it can sometimes affect tag updates. Since you mentioned you unmarked the “combining tags” option as instructed in the video, that’s good. However, you may need to check your protected tag settings.

To fix this:

  1. Go to the AnkiHub website
  2. Find your subscribed deck
  3. Click the 3 dots in the top right corner
  4. Select “Manage Protected Data”
  5. Check the protected tags section to ensure you’re not accidentally protecting tags you want to update

After adjusting these settings, perform a sync from the AnkiHub add-on in Anki.

2. Optional Tags Not Showing

For optional tags that you’ve subscribed to but aren’t appearing:

  1. Make sure you’ve completed a full sync after subscribing to the optional tags
  2. In Anki, go to the Browse window
  3. Check the left sidebar for “AnkiHub_Optional” tags
  4. If they’re still not showing, try using the “Reset Optional Tag Group” feature:
    • In Anki Browser → AnkiHub → Reset Optional Tag Group

According to the Optional Tag Groups documentation, this is useful “if you edited some optional tags and want to undo the changes or lost some updates by doing a full sync from AnkiWeb.”

3. Unable to Add Suggestions

If you’re unable to add suggestions, the most common cause is using an incompatible note type. To fix this:

  1. Right-click on the card you want to suggest changes for
  2. Click “Info” to check the note type
  3. Ensure you’re using an AnkiHub-compatible note type (it should include your username and deck name in brackets for personal decks or the appropriate note type for shared decks)
  4. For AnKing Overhaul specifically, the note type should be “AnKingOverhaul (AnKing / AnKingMed)”

If you’re using the wrong note type, you can change it by:

  • Right-clicking on the card → Notes → Change Note Type → select the AnkiHub-compatible note type

If these steps don’t resolve your issues, I’d recommend syncing your collection and restarting Anki, as sometimes this can help refresh the add-on’s connection to AnkiHub.
