I have the AnKing deck (v12). I decided to split it into subdecks, but now when I unsuspend cards in the main deck, they don’t appear in the main deck anymore.

The main deck has no limit — it’s set to 999.

When you create subdecks from AnKing, where you unsuspend and which deck you click to study both matter.

   • If it says something like AnKing Step Deck::resp (or another subdeck), those cards will only appear when you study that subdeck (or a parent deck that contains it).

2. What deck are you studying on AnkiDroid?

   • If you click directly on a subdeck (e.g. resp), you’ll only see cards from that subdeck and any children.
   • If you click on the top-level AnKing Step Deck, you’ll see cards from it and all subdecks under it, as long as the limits of each deck allow it.

3. Deck limits on subdecks

   • Even if your main deck is set to 999 new cards/day, each subdeck also has its own limit.
   • On desktop, go to each subdeck → Options → check New cards/day and Maximum reviews/day.
   • With the v3 scheduler (current default), both parent and child limits apply. So if the subdeck’s new limit is 0 or already used up, no more new cards from that subdeck will appear, even if the main deck shows 999.

4. Confirm you’re unsuspending in the right deck

   • In the Browser, filter by deck:"AnKing Step Deck" (or the exact name) and add is:suspended to see what’s still suspended there.
   • Unsuspend from there, and make sure those notes are actually assigned to the deck/subdeck you’re expecting.

Likely explanation in your case

After splitting v12 into subdecks, many notes were moved into those subdecks. You’re now unsuspending from the “main” deck, but the cards you want are probably living in the subdecks, and the subdeck limits or where you’re clicking to study are preventing them from appearing.

1. Which deck the card is in
2. Which deck you tap to study

Because you split AnKing into subdecks, most cards are now inside those subdecks, not the “main” AnKing deck.

1. Go to the deck list.
2. Tap the search icon at the top.
3. Type:
   deck:"AnKing Step Deck"
   (or the exact name shown at the top of your AnKing tree)

   • Tap the card’s menu → Card info (or open in Browser if you have that).
   • Look for the Deck field.

You will likely see something like:

• AnKing Step Deck::resp
• AnKing Step Deck::Bacteria

That means the card is in the subdeck, not in the main deck.

To see cards from a subdeck:

That difference is almost certainly from deck limits, not from unsuspending.

On the deck list:

• The number next to each subdeck = how many cards are due inside that subdeck.
• The number next to the main AnKing deck = how many cards Anki has decided to show you today, after applying all limits.

So you can have:

• Subdecks total due ≈ 600
• But main deck only showing = 100
  ⇒ because limits are capping what you see.

What to check/fix (desktop Anki)

1. Turn off/raise limits on the parent deck

   • Right‑click AnKing Step Deck → Options.
   • In the preset:
     • Set New cards/day to something high (e.g. 999).
     • Set Maximum reviews/day to something high (e.g. 9999).

2. Also check limits on each subdeck

   • Right‑click a subdeck (e.g. AnKing Step Deck::resp) → Options.
   • Make sure:
     • New cards/day is not 0.
     • Maximum reviews/day is not 0 or very low.

With the current scheduler, both the parent and subdeck limits matter. If any subdeck has 0 new or 0 reviews, those cards won’t contribute to the main deck’s count even though they “exist” there.

On AnkiDroid:

1. Long‑press the main AnKing deck → Options → check New cards/day and Maximum reviews/day.
2. Do the same for one subdeck that shows lots of cards (e.g. resp).

When you created subdecks, you likely moved cards into them. Because of this, when you unsuspend these cards, they will appear in the subdeck they were moved to. If you want the cards to appear in the main deck instead, you generally won’t need to use subdecks.

As the bot mentioned, you can see exactly which deck the cards are currently in by opening the Browser and looking at the “Deck” column.

Didn’t it used to work if I wanted to study cards from multiple subdecks I just studied them in main deck .

That number should show total of all new cards in subdecks.

That is one way to approach it, yeah, though by no means the only way

It may be that some of your decks, or subdecks, have different settings and/or are using different presets. You can double-check these settings to make sure that they are set in such a way as for Anki to behave the way that you’d like

From there, you may want to make sure that all of your decks (and subdecks) are using the settings that you’d like, and/or that your deck presets are lined up the way you want

I have another question if I just moved these cards back to main deck and then sync via ankihub that wouldn’t cause any issue I should be aware of?
