This deck includes flashcards using lecture content from year two of the MBBS course at St. George’s University of London. Modules include Life Protection, Life Control, Life Structure, and Life Cycle.
FAQ:
Q: Where is all the BCS content from year 1?
A: Hopefully, I can try to upload those over the summer or next year. Unfortunately, the cards I made back then aren’t the best quality. These include the Life Support and Life Maintenance modules.
Q: Will this cover everything for year 2?
A: No. There is 0 anatomy and 0 PPS/PHEBP for year 2. Currently, I don’t have plans to make flashcards for these topics. There are a few BCS lectures from year two that are also still a work in progress. But I should be able to upload them soon. If I don’t, I will make a note of the lectures here so you can keep an eye out it.
Q: Everything is bundled together into one deck; how can I organise it to make my own deck?
A: Until there is support for Ankihub decks, it won’t be automatic. That being said, you can easily make your own because everything is tagged. I’ve done it in two ways: chronologically, the way SGUL has taught us, and by module/topic. If you open the browser and find the tag ‘SGUL_Year_2’, you’ll see everything broken down by module (e.g. Life Protection), with a few topics (e.g. Oncology) within each module. This is how I have organised my own decks. I’d suggest creating decks, opening each of those tags under ‘SGUL_Year_2’, selecting all, and moving the cards to the relevant decks.
Q: How should I study these cards?
A: I’d suspend all and then unsuspend cards as you go through each lecture and do your reviews every single day. Don’t make guesses; you either know it or you don’t. Be as strict with yourself as possible.
Q: Is it normal to have 300-400 reviews?
A: If you’r’e using The Anking’s settings, then yes. And it’s sustainable. I didn’t try to ask difficult questions. But if you do it every day, you should be able to finish your reviews in an hour or two. (If you don’t use The Anking’s settings or want to try something different, there are dozens of videos on YouTube regarding this)
Q: There are a lot of typos and grammatical errors.
A: That’s not really a question. And yes. There are. Anki doesn’t have built-in spellcheck, so sometimes it’s difficult to spot, and other times I’ve let it slide because of time constraints. I’m working on trying to fix them.
