Hi @ShawnO33. Thank you for the suggestion!

I think the extra section of this card might not be the best place to explicitly include this detail, as the card focuses on the two categories of configurational isomers rather than stereoisomers. We generally try to keep the extra section closely aligned with what the card is testing to avoid adding too much related information.

However, in the past we have discussed a graphic that includes this general concept:

@Brian_BH @kevinpanini any thoughts on this? We originally thought it might look a little busy and less streamlined but the info is additive in the deck. Any change of heart? @ShawnO33 please feel free to weigh in with your thoughts as well!

For the Extra section, for sure I think we don’t need both the initial sentence and the suggested added sentence as it just becomes a bit redundant.

The suggested sentence is a bit tighter, and more inclusive of drawing both detail and contrast, though as you point out we have that image that covers some of the same ground.

I could see either including a clarification in the Extra field and keeping the existing image, or it doesn’t seem entirely crazy to include the larger, more explanatory image (though it is bigger, and busier, overall).

I could really be convinced in either direction on this one, tbh. The only caveat I’ll add is that we should make sure to keep in common any changes we make (i.e. if we add the sentence to this card it should maybe also be included in whatever card/s for conformational isomers and/or if we include this image it should make also be included for other similar cards).

I think we’re in a rare position here where there’s probably no real losing option; all available options seem at least reasonable to my eyes.

@pkaps01 I prefer the image with the step by step, I think it would allow individuals like myself to be able to look and follow a formula to be able to compare the different types.

I much prefer this over the card that says “____ isomers have the same formula but differ structurally”

Half of those isomer cards u can guess by just looking at the other cloze and I don’t think it actually allows people to learn it properly. Something to break it down like a chart with Y/N is much better.
