These set of cards need to be updated correct?

Does USMLE/NBME/UWorld use GINA guidelines or NAEPP?

Step 2 QID 4617 has a chart that would seem to line up more with the GINA,

NBME FM Self Assessment Form 5 (the most recent form) seems to line up more with NAEPP. and take it for what its worth this is what chat GPT said:

Also AMBOSS just lists both without any inclination that one is preferred over the other.

Hmm okay,

I think to definitely make this much more easier to understand, we can change the text to

“Stepwise asthma treatment (NAEPP 2020 guidelines)”

Then I think we should add to the extra something like

UWorld has recently transitioned to using the updated GINA 2024 guidelines, however, based on the latest NBME FM Form 5, treatment guidelines align with NAEPP 2020

This way users are informed and can study both, I’d be curious to see whether the latest step 2 NBME form also uses NAEPP (I’m assuming they also are)

I think this is a good solution. I too would be curious to see what the Step 2 SA Says.

@AnKing-Maintainers If anyone has taken CCSSA Form 15 can check for any asthma questions and see.

The only concern I have here is that the form was released originally in May of 2023 (predating the GINA Update) so IDK if the NBME ever updates specific questions but I don’t think they do.

I like @Ahmed7 's suggestion, hard to know which would be tested until one of us gets a question over it on a shelf/Step.

Other open suggestion here is trying to change clozes to the GINA guidelines so we can just reject theirs and merge this one with the GINA guidelines in extra

If we can get around 12 likes, that would be ideal for pushing the 1by1 card.

Once this is pushed, we should add the NAEPP vs GINA discrepancy to a few other cards to finally solve this confusion

Just to open a discussion, we could create a new card testing the GINA guidelines, but not sure of the absolute utility if ultimately NBME/the actual USMLE exam does not use it

In the end, if we have the GINA guidelines in extra and someone wants to memorize those, they can more easily just copy and paste them into the text field and protect the card for their own collection

Don’t think it’s very likely people would want to memorize both of them

Just want to remind everyone that we have argued over GINA vs NAEPP many times and it super hard to make content changes… NBME forms often lag several years behind on updating guidelines. I never used them for studying because of the inaccuracies. Would be extremely careful with any updates here. If we want to add which guidelines the question is asking about I 100p support that, but have to be watchful if changing content

Not changing any content, just clarifying NAEPP vs GINA. We should also find any other suggestions that mention this and reject them with the new note we are adding in the extra section clarifying why we are keeping NAEPP in text vs GINA

@herstein.jacob Any concerns about making this a 1b1 card?

Nope!

Lets push and add this note to all relevant cards? @anking-maintainers
