We generally want to be very careful, and deliberate, with larger changes to text, but I think this is really well-done
Using examples from the textbooks, when we can, allows reinforcement of the material without running the risk of editorializing or, importantly, leaving room for argument about which examples are more salient or more appropriate than others. Although we do a lot of editing, we don’t want to editorialize. I think this does a great job of elegantly getting the idea across while side-stepping a lot of potential pitfalls.
In particular, I love the notation of discrepancies in primary sources in the ‘Note’ at the bottom. I think, when such discrepancies exist, it’s very helpful not to necessarily take a side and simply offer clarity for the user/s in that sources may differ in the detail/s that they emphasize (the Step deck does the same thing).
All-in-all, 10/10. I think this is a very nice solution to what would otherwise be a very open-ended discussion and potentially a source of disagreement or confusion
