Hi @daltoncaples . Thank you for your suggestion. However, we require MCAT specific source citations with all suggestions (Kaplan, Khan Academy, UWorld etc.) More details here for suggestion guidelines: AnKing MCAT Deck Submission Guidelines
My apologies — regarding UWorld question 400381, which this card was tagged with, the question states:
Aging is associated with significant memory decline for all of the following types of memory EXCEPT:
A. Episodic
B. Flashbulb
C. Semantic
D. Source
Reasoning:
Aging is associated with declines in certain types of memory, including episodic, flashbulb, and source memory. However, semantic and procedural memory tend to remain relatively stable with age.
The concepts of improvement and stability are distinct, which is why I believe this card would be improved by making the appropriate adjustments to better reflect the differences.
Please let me know if you need more. Thank you.
Fantastic rationale
For sure some types of memory do increase (or decrease) with age, though the most testable detail for the MCAT is which types of memory remain (relatively) stable with age, which I think supports and gives preference to this suggestion
Kaplan and UWorld textbooks both specifically discuss the relative stability of specific kinds of memory, and I can recall seeing it on a few practice questions.
UWorld:
Definitely a good change, I agree.
