Maybe change to “movements that compress joint space”? UpToDate
@herstein.jacob QID 15845 when you get a chance
Linked AMBOSS article under subtypes/variants actually says of bacterial coxitis (hip septic arthritis) that patients often have hip flexed and externally rotated to relieve pain. Aaron’s suggestion here may be good but I’d like to have some examples in extra if we go that way
QID explanation says “infants often lie with the affected hip flexed, abducted, and externally rotated to maximize joint space and comfort.” QID 3577 also gives this explanation. I have no idea what the original source was so I don’t know how to best approach this unfortunately.
