I just made a suggestion on this note but I think this is better. Only caveat would be to add “extended” before DIP in the mallet finger cloze, it was info in the original extra and would be a similar formatting to the jersey finger cloze
I would caution against using trigger finger in the description to compare and contrast, as this card is already doing this with two distinct injuries and two mechanisms, and adding trigger finger is putting three eponyms in the same note.
The description of trigger finger here is a bit misleading as it’s not an acute injury like mallet/jersey and isn’t “involving the joint” although it may be in the general area
And as for definitive management, Jersey is always surgery but can be placed in a splint temporarily until surgery is done. I want to mention this because it would be very easy to see this on a “best next step” question and the scenario is in the ED and surgery is not listed as an answer
I don’t mind deleting the part about trigger finger
For the treatment of jersey and mallet finger, I tried to make it as simple as possible since it’s a low-yield topic
@anking-maintainers made a slight edit as according to AMBOSS, severe (displaced fractures and significant articular involvement) mallet finger injuries are treated with surgical repair.
