Not sure if keeping the original cloze for lateral pterygoid was intentional? There is no way of answering the card as it is right now though.
Removed original cloze. I think this is a pretty big change so if we end up pushing it we’ll also need to add an update notice to the extra
Yes it was
The first part mentions that this is direct ME via post-isometric relaxation
Someone should be able to think about where the patient is positioned and in which direction they are pushing to delineate the muscle undergoing treatment. Yes, someone can understand it if they know what the lateral pterygoid does, but they may not click if they have not encountered it before.
It also sets up a standard format for future cards with muscle energy techniques
Also, I no longer have my subscription to UWORLD, but could someone double-check the starting position?
If the jaw prefers to stay open in the dysfunction, then having the starting position be open jaw then that would be placing them in their ease (indirect)
I looked into it and the current adaptation is correct. (another acceptable motion is also lateral movement) This movement isn’t facilitating ease but increasing decreased ROM. Really there’s no way to “exclusively target” one muscle so really its a group tx that the LP is a part of.
