UTD article referenced is for secondary spontaneous pneumo… but I checked the article for evaluation of penetrating thoracic trauma (UpToDate) and it seems to say needle decompression in certain situations is recommended. AMBOSS does not mention needle in relation to open pneumo. Overall, I support.
