To clarify, my understanding was that these HPV infections usually clear in this age population. So the prevalence is important but it’s also that these are acute infections that will self-resolve while older patients usually have chronic HPV infections that won’t self-resolve. But I like the explanation. Maybe “HPV-based testing is not recommended for surveillance in women < 25 years of age since HPV infections in this age group usually self-resolve and don’t become chronic”
