Yeah, just learned about pheochromocytoma a couple weeks ago and knowing increased serum metanephrines was the main point.
Technically, breakdown of catecholamines is:
dopamine → HVA;
epinephrine → metanephrine → VMA;
norepinephrine → normetanephrine → VMA
But all of these metabolites are classified as “metanephrines”
Support the change, would be okay putting VMA and HVA in the extra - unless they’re specifically tested on UW QIDs. Amboss just lists serum or urine metanephrines
Yeh I would at least have VMA and HVA spelled out in the extra
Added to extra - 3 separate UW questions have the answer as “metanephrines” so I think this is a really good change
