Just gotta use the empty card tool. 
Hey could you explain what the empty card tool is? Is this supposed to be an anki add-on that I need to download?
I say this because the only solutions Iâve ever had for this is suspending the âempty cardâ cloze itself!
The âempty cardâ tool gets used when there is an empty card, straightforwardly enough. The short version is that, for whatever reason letâs say you have a card with a cloze 1, cloze 3, and cloze 4:
Maybe that was a typo, maybe someone mis-numbered, whatever it is. Anki isnât going to know that someone goofed, and itâs still going to create a card for cloze 2. But, because thereâs no actual cloze there, itâs not going to have anything in it. The card will be âempty.â
It doesnât happen super often, and there are other considerations that can complicate it to some degree (which I can dive into if youâd like), but thatâs the very short version.
The tool itself doesnât require an addon; itâs a built-in feature to Anki (âEmpty Cardsâ):
