In the case of this suggestion, neurotransmitters can cause EPSPs upon binding to receptors of a postsynaptic neuron. “EPSPs” as a term isn’t frequently used on the MCAT, and when tested as a term, “neurotransmitters” are usually used when “temporal summation” is being described.
