FA 2022 states - “male internal
genitalia, atypical external genitalia until
puberty (when inc testosterone levels cause
masculinization)” while amboss states “Female external genitalia at birth (Residual 5-alpha-reductase activity may cause the development of ambiguous external genitalia)”
UTD - “external genitalia often are predominately female at birth” - “when affected 46,XY children were raised initially as female, gender role behavior changed to male at the time of expected puberty” seems like >50% of patients are considered male when puberty hits - “Some experts recommend that all infants diagnosed with steroid 5-alpha-reductase 2 deficiency be raised as males because affected subjects virilize to a variable extent later in life”
seems like this card is getting at later in life with the mention of no breasts, therefore would be in favor of ambiguous - should put something like “at birth, external genitalia is predominately female, with most individuals developing ambigouos external genitalia due to residual 5-alpha-reductase activity”
