i did all the steps exactly but the cards are not showing up at all on the online web portal. they also don’t show up when i suggest a card and it want to approve it

What are you trying to add cards to, exactly? And which web portal are you referencing? The more clarity we have the better able we might be to help. 
i made an optional tag. It shows up on ankihub. which i right click on the card and suggest the card. it doesnt show up in the deck on the optional tag details page
Just to make sure we’re on the same page:
When you say ‘suggest a card’ are you attempting to suggest an additional card, or suggesting to add a tag to an existing card in the Step Deck?

Kk, and just to make sure:
In the Anki desktop app you added the tag (AnkiHub_Optional:COMP_First_Try) to a card in the Anking Step Deck, then right-clicked and selected ‘suggest optional tags’?
i tried that and it didnt work
same not working for me
Just ruling out the obvious pitfalls. Have you followed the instructions, and naming conventions, listed below, both the instructional page and/or the tutorial?
i did that and it didnt work. Could it be because i just made the tag? i made it like an hour ago.
It’s possible. Can you type out for me how you’ve formatted the tag you’re trying to enter? Just to double check?
Also, obvious caveats: you have the Ankihub addon installed and are logged in? You have an active Ankihub membership?
Do you know what version of Anki you’re running?

this is the tag that i am using
i have the ankihub addon installed because i have other optional tags that i am subscribed to. i also bought the lifetime membership. and i am running anki version 23.12.1
The tag itself will need to be appended by the name of the optional tag group.
For example above I asked if you had added a suggested tag in the format ‘AnkiHub_Optional:COMP_First_Try’
So, for example: AnkiHub_Optional:COMP_First_Try::PLZNICK
Additionally, I might recommend updating. 23.12 is about 10 months old at this point. It’s unlikely to necessarily be the root cause here but it helps remove potential confounders to be on the most up-to-date version of Anki.
im not using that tag anymore im using my friends tag that he made he followed all the steps and were both stuck at the same spot. the tag details page says this:
Oh no! 
This optional tag group is empty.
Be the first to tag notes to this group. Copy the tag
(AnkiHub_Optional::PLZNICK) and add to notes in the Anki Desktop App
via the AnkiHub add-on.
Tip: Copy the tag → Select notes → right click → “Suggest Optional Tags”
The image above that you shared, indicating the issue, was with COMP_First_Try. Are we onto a different tag now?
Separately, do you have permissions to suggest tags for that group; are you a tag maintainer for that specific optional tag?
