If I am not mistaken, I think this card is part of a set of other cards with a similar format
Are you thinking of nid:1463356487232,1463356494886,1463356498416? I thought so too at first, but realized I was thinking of these cards, which aren’t exactly the same
Actually, yes! I was thinking of those!
support the change
@AnKing-Maintainers don’t think this change was needed - card is from Pathoma and the point is to highlight this single example that does not carry increased risk… not just a single example of breast, but single example from all kinds of metaplasia
"Under persistent stress, metaplasia can progress to dysplasia and eventually result in cancer.
- For example, Barrett esophagus may progress to adenocarcinoma ofthe esophagus.
- A notable exception is apocrine metaplasia of breast, which carries no increased risk for cancer."
I was wondering this same thing but hadn’t had a chance to look into it yet. Adding “breast” in this way changes the meaning of the card. It now no longer emphasizes that it is “The ONLY metaplasia”.
Now it almost falsely implies that there are other metaplasias outside of the breast that might share this feature.
Oh, interesting. I did not know that this was the ONLY type of metaplasia that this applies to. I think we should revert then!
Reverted
Fair enough, that makes sense! I didn’t realize it was the only metaplasia that doesn’t transform into a dysplasia. Thanks!
