Also have been taking this card at face value and assumed it was a similar mechanism to thyroiditis. Think we can frame it this way?

“Sequelae of pituitary adenoma include hypopituitarism, which may be caused by pituitary {{c1:apoplexy}}, and hyperpituitarism”

Think purpose of this card may be to draw attention to pituitary adenomas being the MCC of pituitary apoplexy (hypopit.) and is distinct from mass effect which is covered well elsewhere in deck

I like your wording.

Changed the card to reflect, this good to push?

Let’s get a couple more people to lay eyes on this first, I’m a bit removed from the material now.

@AnKing-Maintainers Seems like AMBOSS and UWorld agree. Just need a couple more likes on this; if you see we’ve met threshold to push and agree with change in wording go ahead and push! :slight_smile:

Current version is based on old version of First Aid, FA23 has replaced this with “Pituitary apoplexy → hypopituitarism.” I would rather simplify this all around.

Pituitary adenoma may cause hypopituitarism in the setting of pituitary {{c1:apoplexy}}

I think @herstein.jacob version is better, and we can have in extra “pituitary adenomas may also cause hyperpituitarism”

Updated the card, like this card’s version now vs before

Okay to push?

just added underlining to hyper

We’ve still got nid:1462206100432 that tests it directly, so I’m good removing info about hyperpit. from text here

Pituitary adenomas may be {{c1::functional}} (hormone producing) or {{c1::nonfunctional}} (silent)

If functioning, results in hyper___emia of whatever the hormone cell tumor produces (e.g. lactotroph → hyperprolactinemia)
