What I meant was an ASD can maintain a right to left flow but a TAPVR in and of itself is not a right to left shunt. Survivability is not a factor that dictates when something can be called a shunt. If the heart is inappropriately moving blood from one side of the heart to the other when its not suppose to, it is a shunt
