@daltoncaples Thank you for the suggestion. We do ask, and require, that any UWorld QID citations be accompanied by a sufficient rationale, in order to streamline the process of suggestions and deck maintenance.

More information can be found here: AnKing MCAT Deck Submission Guidelines (UWorld QID tagging is a bit down the list; number 8 I believe)

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Ok, thank you! I will improve my inclusion of the UWorld QID. My goal is to ensure every QID has a reference card with sufficient rationale.

Question:
A certain eukaryotic organism has multiple, distinct genes with highly similar sequences that are expressed at different times in the organism’s life cycle. These genes could have arisen by:

A. alternative splicing.
B. conjugation.
C. gene duplication.
D. transformation.

Rational:
Distinct genes within an organism that have high sequence identity are evolutionarily related, likely having a common origin. They generally arise by gene duplication and, over time, can mutate and fulfill distinct roles within an organism.

This for sure would be lovely. We made some great progress a few months back, but just haven’t had anyone recently who was working through UWorld so we haven’t had any opportunities to flesh it out since then, unfortunately.

One small detail is that there are lots of questions that can’t be tagged, either because they don’t have a note that’s immediately relevant, or they’re passage-based, or CARS, or whatever. We’d actually love to tag those as well (by this note, nid:1713903712723) just so we have a sense of overall completion.

I’ll have to double-check, but if you’re planning to do a bunch of UWorld I know that at one point we had a scholarship or something going on. I’m not sure if that’s still active, but if you’re planning on doing a bunch I can reach out and see if we still have something like that going.

This is chef’s kiss. Having context for the question, and a rationale, is ideal. To be super honest, we have to toss out a lot of QID tags because folks either don’t know, or don’t care, to include rationales and it’s rough to have to toss them aside but without being able to corroborate them we have no choice.

This rationale, though, is great. To boil it down, having context for the question is helpful and the very very ideal scenario is for the rationale to explain why the card is necessary to answer this question. That’s really the net net takeaway

Chef’s kiss again, thank you.

Of Course, thank you for all that you do for us.
