@anking-maintainers can anyone assist here? I am just as confused as @musamalik lol

Think we need to reassess most of these developmental milestone cards. Table in extra I believe was updated more recently (like last year) from UWorld than the Text which has caused a lot of confusion. Gimme a few days and I’ll look at them if no one else can come around and help out

I went through a huge overhaul of the tables and most cards a few months ago - checked everything against both UW and AMBOSS. There should only be some random stragglers, don’t think you need to deep dive. Just don’t know the source of this specific card… FA says 50-200 as a range so maybe that caused the confusion?

CDC says 50 words (not 50-200) at age 2.5 (30 months) - think we should definitely make a change (potentially even delete this card since the other nid I mentioned still mentions the same information)

A source I personally studied from says 100 words, and that book is a bit aggressive. This card always seemed a bit off to me. UWorld says >50 words at 30 months and “says 2-word phrases” for 2 years. Amboss says >50 at 2 years and >300 at 3 years with a 1000 word understanding.

One thing I found constant tho is that:
At 15 months: says Mama and Dada
At 18 months: Says two mono-syllable words besides Mama and Dada
At two years: Able to say two words together - eg. “More milk” (ie. two word sentences)
At three years: Able to form three word sentences.
At four years: Able to form four word sentences.

Personally I think vocabulary doesn’t matter beyond 1.5 years as it is less likely to be tested during a clinical exam of a child, even at a well baby clinic.

I assume we could adjust the number to “50 in 2-word sentences” then?
one should note that nid:1556558853555 already test {{c1::2.5 months}} for > 50 words
one should also note that nid:1517275705935 test {{c1::2 word phrase}} at 2 years with extra field saying “This card used to say ≥ 50-word vocabulary, but per UWorld, this is expected of a 2.5-year-old (30 months)”

I think combining all of the feedback + what UW and AMBOSS say, simple solution is “50 words (in 2-word sentences)” - this accounts for the milestone at age 2 (2-word phrases) and the milestone at age 2.5 (50 words).

Edit: updated w/ rationale, please thumbs up/down on suggestion
