@Michael_B, would this fall into personal customization? I see the point, but uncertain if this is a critical edit.
When it comes to expanding a cloze, it’s about whether the inclusion of that additional part is something that could be just as testable on an MCAT Q. The Doppler effect is about what’s being “perceived” - not reality. Definitely could see how that factors into a question. Then we also have a cloze being added. For ease of review times, we limit added clozes, especially when it’s entirely on its own (for example, adding c3). But it’s just another blank for c1 in this case. Still not ideal if it’s not necessary. I wouldn’t consider the addition of another c1 at the end to be necessary. The Doppler effect isn’t necessarily tested in a way wherein the presence or lack of relative movement is asked of. It’s assumed but someone would also have to recognize that to begin with to know that the Doppler effect is being talked about. The same goes for “perceived frequency” so it alone can serve that purpose of helping users recognize when the Doppler effect is being discussed in Qs. And with that, we can slightly cut down on review times than they otherwise would be
These are the explanations I’m here for. Trying to get the nuanced sense of where all the ley lines are. That’s awesome
