You’re correct, but I’m not sure the nuiance is necessary, since “incarcerated” is a word that already encapsulates the category of “strangulated”. Caveated by saying that I haven’t done my surgery rotation/UWorld yet, so maybe I’ll come to change my mind. Are there any qid’s where knowledge of this distinction was necessary to answer the question?

I always get it right by thinking of it this way:
incarcerated is “urgeny” surgery or even elective
Strangulated is “emergency” surgery
like urgency and emergency in HTN
