Guessing this suggestion came from here. Though not sure they’re specifically saying “key concepts” in the sense that Vygotsky called them that or just the key concepts relevant to developing higher mental function. Though I do agree that maybe our “stages” language is not exactly right. It’s more like these are the core mechanisms through which higher mental function is achieved.
