It’s a very good point imo, but I am leaning toward “{{c1::Continue breastfeeding ± supplementation with formula}}”
For tx of breast milk jaundice, need to check the UW Step 2 and Step 3 QIDs… I don’t give much weight to Step 1 for a change like this since these concepts aren’t even mentioned in First Aid. I think you are right that it could be +/- formula.
There is nothing wrong with the tx of breastfeeding jaundice, UW and AMBOSS both agree with increasing frequency.
I believe they are quoting from a Step 3 question, but they didn’t change the default Step 1 choice
Also not sure why we flipped the order of the card?
Agree, I flipped it back
Support. Edit was de-capitalization of “continuing” and underlining of “breast milk” to match how “breastfeeding” was underlined
Edited again to delete a nbsp
Amboss says “continue breastfeeding and supplement with formula feeds” but adds note that temporary interruption is usually not necessary, but can be advised if serum billirubin levels exceed 20 mg/dl, so seems to agree with change. So support as long as UW step 2/3 agree as well. Don’t have access to UW anymore unfortunately so can’t check QIDs
The UWorld (Step 3) question focuses only on continuing breastfeeding for breast milk jaundice
According to the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) guidelines, the primary approach is to continue breastfeeding. Formula supplementation can be considered in severe cases
