Hello! This is more of a question at the moment…
I had the same question and checked to see if there was any significant card/note history. Could a general “enzyme terminology difference” from a reputable source be sufficient to submit a new suggestion with this card? I was thinking of comparing positive feedback, feedforward, activation/stimulation and induction in my suggestion purely as a verbiage note to clarify, because I was not thinking insulin as something that gives positive feedback. It dephosporylates it which activates that enzyme subunit. And not-so-similarly, if insulin induces glucokinase, it increases the number not necessarily touches the enzyme itself. Not sure how much that matters week 2 of med school lol but I feel like it would be massively important to understand these differences later (pharm, HPA axis, and who knows what else).
Just trying to abide by the community rules, so any suggestions (to my suggestion of making a suggestion) would be great!
(Say suggestion again…)
I was about to make this same suggestion! Here’s a quote from our ole friend Jack Westin explaining why using “feedback” is wrongly used here.
“Feedback regulation: A process by which the product of a metabolic pathway influences its own production by controlling the amount and/or activity of one or more enzymes involved in the pathway.”
Insulin is not a product the the glycolysis pathway.
