I think the source for that is SketchyPharm
That’s what I’m recalling
Can confirm sketchy pharm makes this claim. Nifedipine is just supposed to one of the most aggressive CCBs for exacerbating myocardial ischemia. I’d support change consistent with AMBOSS.
Maybe? :
Which Ca2+channel blocker is most likely to exacerbate myocardial ischemia in patients with unstable angina or MI?
{{c1::Nifedipine}}
Extra:
Although nifedipine is commonly associated, all CCB’s may exasperate symptoms
@Anking-Maintainers
I think this should go through ASAP!
I’m not super fond of current suggestion. Would still prefer something like what I suggested above
Well, I didn’t necessarily mean the original suggestion! (I like yours too)
AMBOSS actually says this in adverse effects of nondihydropyridine calcium channel blockers section:
“Reflex tachycardia: a condition of tachycardia secondary to a decrease in blood pressure (esp. nifedipine)”
In another section
“Short-acting CCBs (e.g., nifedipine) are not indicated for monotherapy of angina because they cause hypotension and secondary reflex tachycardia, which can worsen cardiac ischemia.”
But we also have “ACS” in contraindication for ALL CCBs
Another point about your suggestion to consider would be the fact that if we answer any other CCB it won’t be wrong
I just think the notes with wrong or outdated information should be dealt sooner and be the top priority!
