I don’t know where the idea that air trapping = silent chest came from (in the original card). I also don’t understand how this relates to the pathophysiology of acute asthma exacerbation. I would like to see ā€˜silent chest’ mentioned in the question (next to marked decrease in wheezing) and keep ā€˜intubation’ as the next best step (the question should only ask about the next step)

Amboss does mention that a severe asthma exacerbation would present with a silent chest, indicating limited to no airflow, which I take to mean air-trapping

If I remember correctly, UW QID explanation emphasizes poor air movement… would not change
