Just look at the First Aid 2022 (pg 100) schematic and it shows IL-2 as a product of TH1 and Treg only. Also in the 2022 update, pg 106, the header above IL-2 now reads “Secreted by T Cells”, and not “Secreted by All T Cells”, like it does in previous editions. I think these previous editions caused confusion.
Here is an excerpt from UpToDate, after searching for IL-2: Th2 — T helper type 2 (Th2) cells produce IL-4, IL-5, IL-13, and IL-10 but not IL-2 or IFN-gamma. By virtue of their IL-4 and IL-13 secretion, they are important in the promotion of immunoglobulin E (IgE) synthesis and via IL-5 stimulate eosinophil development. They help mediate immunity against parasitic infestations, particularly helminths, and are pivotal in the development of allergy and asthma [20-22].
Thank you for your detailed comments - I’d support updating with a note in the extra to state that this used to state Th2. You’ve got a span tag in your suggestion also - have edited to remove this. Will hold off on approving to see what others think.
Going for it and approving
