i think main purpose for this card is to differentiate between entameoba and echinococcus. entamoeba is treated pharmacologically while echino is surgically. can add in extra (cysts measuring <5cm in diameter are treated pharmacologically)

I think it’s fairly HY to include. UTD also mentions that surgery should be done with albendazole, so probably better to keep on text as it’s first approach.
FA23 pg157 also mentions it’s the first line, with surgery only being performed on complicated cysts.

Agree with @Ahmed7 here, think this info is lower yield and should only be added to text if tested on.

I think many skip the extra and read it only for explanation of hard cards. Albendazole is the main treatment, with surgery only used for large or complicated cysts (even then, albendazole is still given), so only mentioning surgery could give a false impression that drugs are not used for hydatid cysts.

We updated nid:1509928135584 on tx of Echinococcus, so this needs fixing. I think the simple fix is just to make it say “can be treated either pharmacologically OR surgically” and make the other sister card on Entamoeba say “is only treated pharmacologically” or something to contrast the two @anking-maintainers

Support something similar to this - main point is step prep but don’t think we should have people memorize something that might be incorrect

Support, we give peri-operative albendazole regardless.

@AnKing-Maintainers please consider these changes in conjunction with suggested changed to either card
