Blue Ophthalmology Updates

The most up to date version of the deck is always on AnkiHub! The log below refers to the versions released on Reddit

V7 Updates

  • New maintainers!

jillyjiggs on AnkiHub (u/JillyJiggs on Reddit) - truly excellent suggestions, more fully tagging sections of BCSC, correcting information, and improving card formatting.

Hendrix on AnkiHub (u/Appropriate_Pea_5009 on Reddit) - additions with Kanski tags explained below.

  • BCSC broad overview: Main focus of the team right now is work on completing BCSC tags, correcting information, and adding additional cards only when necessary. Particular focus this update on sections 4, 6, 9, 10.
  • Kanski tags: Thanks to Hendrix on AnkiHub, tags for Kanski’s Clinical Ophthalmology: A Systematic Approach are being added and improved under #Blue::#Resources::Kanski
  • Basic Ophthalmology tags: Thanks to ankisolomons on AnkiHub, tags for Harper’s Basic Ophthalmology are being added under #Blue::#Resources::Basic_Ophthalmology
  • Card fixes/additions: Continued progress from previous versions. Some redundant clozes have been removed, which can be cleaned up using the “Tools → Empty Cards…” function in Anki’s home screen ribbon menu.
  • Syntax changes: Repeated   removal within the deck html (except for flagged cards) to correctly wrap lines, especially for small screens. Great for phone users. This will be repeated periodically for AnkiHub users, and before each major version release.
  • Images: Many images added, improved, and provided with citations for easier studying

V6 Updates

  • New maintainer! kumara7 on AnkiHub (u/kumaraa7 on Reddit) - bringing many cards in line with our deck format.
  • Rebrand!
  • BCSC broad overview: More sections of BCSC tagged and edited! Focus on sections 1, 5, 7 10, 12, with work on the other sections as possible.
  • Card fixes/additions: Continued progress from previous versions. Some redundant clozes have been removed, which can be cleaned up using the “Tools → Empty Cards…” function in Anki’s home screen ribbon menu.
  • Tag reorganization: Many of the tags have been reorganized and additional tags have been added within the #Topics tag heading for easier browser search. Tags brought in line with rebranding.
  • Syntax changes: Repeated   removal within the deck html to correctly wrap lines, especially for small screens. Great for phone users. This will be repeated periodically for AnkiHub users, and before each major version release.
  • Images: Full image support is in place on AnkiHub, and we have started embedding images using the linking ability within Anki.

V5 Updates

  • BCSC broad overview: The EyeGuru cards for Section 1, Update on General Medicine have been added. Sections 2, 5, 6, 8, and 12 are currently being thoroughly worked through by the team to cross tag, correct errors, and generally improve the formatting
  • Card fixes/additions: Many major rewrites of cards, factual errors corrected, and formatting brought into alignment. New cards for topics not covered within the deck have been added. Some redundant clozes have been removed, which can be cleaned up using the “Tools → Empty Cards…” function in Anki’s home screen ribbon menu.
  • Flagged cards: Total number of flagged (duplicate and skipped) cards now exceed 3,300.
  • Tag reorganization: Many of the tags have been reorganized and additional tags have been added within the #Structure_Based tag heading for easier browser search.
  • Syntax changes: All instances of   within the deck html have been removed and replaced with a blank space in order to correctly wrap lines, especially for small screens. Great for phone users. This will be repeated periodically for AnkiHub users, and before each major version release.
  • Images: As we plan for full image support on the web application, we have started embedding images using the linking ability within Anki. Once images are supported, these will be replaced by putting the images themselves within the deck.

V4 Updates

  • Numerous content fixes and card improvements.
  • Many, many changes - including beginning OphthoQuestions tags!
  • Eyeguru Videos are completely cross tagged with other deck content.
  • Under !FLAG_THESE_CARDS tag, Duplicates now at 1583 and Cards_Blue_Skipped at 680, for a total of 2261.

V3 Updates

  • Thanks to Ace, added content from AAO OKAP Powerpoints, sections 1, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11.
  • Added Eyeguru BCSC section 2 – Fundamentals and Principles cards.
  • Sections 1 – 3 of Eyeguru Videos are now cross tagged with other deck content.
  • Under !FLAG_THESE_CARDS tag, Duplicates now at 843 and Cards_Blue_Skipped at 459, for a total of 1300.
  • Numerous content fixes and card improvements.

V2 Updates

  • Added tag !FLAG_THESE_CARDS which includes duplicates I have identified (Duplicates) and also cards I have skipped (Cards_Blue_Skipped) so far in my studies for a running total of 689 cards.
  • Added tag #Resources to break down the deck in terms of where the cards come from - this is the easiest way to study from this deck.
  • Added BostonShiParty’s EyeGuru cards for chapter 6: Oculoplastics. Added EyeGuru BCSC 5 Neuro-Ophthalmology Deck. Added EyeGuru BCSC 4 Pathology and Tumors Deck
  • Changed all cloze notetypes to AnKing note type (with one-by-one) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYUhNMyAZNs, changed all occlusion notetypes to Image Occlusion Enhanced, all basic cards to Basic-Anking.
  • All cards under trauma are tagged.
