Trouble with AI Smart Search - Blank Screen

I’ve been trying to use the AI Smart Search feature, but every time I open it, all I get is a blank screen and nothing loads. I’ve tried refreshing and restarting Anki, but no luck so far.

Anyone else run into this issue or have any suggestions?

Hello,

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for your patience. There is currently a bit of a bug with the Ankihub servers, which is preventing some users from being able to sync appropriately.

I don’t have an immediate ETA at the moment, though the developers aware and currently working on a fix.

Thanks for the update earlier! After updating the AnkiHub add-on, the Smart Search is now working, which is great. However, I’ve noticed one issue, when I try to narrow the focus of the search, all the cards disappear. This means I can currently only find cards with very broad searches, which pull in a lot of results.

Interestingly, this issue only seems to happen in the Anki app. When I use the browser version of the smart search, the narrowing works as expected. I hope this helps in identifying the issue! Thanks again for your support.

Hello,

Sorry for the inconvenience there. I tried the same thing, and I can’t seem to recreate the issue on my end, so I went ahead and sent your report up to the developers to take a look at. Hopefully it’s just a transient thing with a quick fix, but at the very least they’re aware and I’ve started the ball rolling so we’ll get on it and try to get you up and running as soon as possible.

If you haven’t already, I would recommend triple-checking that you’re on the most updated version of the Ankihub addon just to be 100%. This can be done by clicking Tools - Add-ons - check for updates. I know that they released a couple of updates throughout the day yesterday so while it’s maybe not the likeliest solution here it can’t hurt (and can only help) to ensure you are on the latest version.

If there’s anything else I can help with in the meantime, or any questions I can answer, please don’t hesitate.

I realized that the issue on my end was related to a setting I had previously had on. Before, I had the Smart Search option set to only show suspended cards. It seems that when this filter is active, the search results go blank. Once I turned off that setting, the search started working normally again.

Hopefully, this detail might help clarify what was happening on my end and assist in troubleshooting for others who might encounter the same issue.
