Per Amboss:

  • Tinea capitis presents with round, pruritic scaly plaques with broken hair shafts or alopecia in affected areas
  • Alopecia areata presents as smooth, circular, well-defined patches of hair loss without scarring
  • Trichotillomania presents with usually patchy pattern of hair loss with hair of different lengths

Needs to have some way to differentaite between tinea capitis and alopecia areata
