I’m not wholly against an example here, but noting that a given behavior “can” result in something is too broad, imo. Various forms of intelligence CAN result in a thousand things

I agree. but this seems to be primarily a feature of emotional intelligence that the AAMC is testing. While different forms of intelligence can result in many different things it seems like analytical, creative, and interpersonal intelligence can not confer the ability (or at least does not best confer the ability) to specifically delay gratification in pursuit of long term rewards according to the AAMC lmk what u think.

I agree there, but I think that’s sort of the point that I’m resting on: there can be a hundred potential iterations of this particular capacity. If we find a dozen examples of AAMC questions on this, are we going to include each one? Therein becomes the rub.

  • “Emotionally intelligent people can perceive frustration in a colleague.”

It’s very literally true, but so would a thousand other iterations be.

In theory, anyone could test on any of, say, a hundred different incarnations of emotional intelligence, or analytical intelligence, etc. You and I could easily imagine dozens of ways that these things could manifest just with the examples listed already in the Extra field.

We don’t want to be in the business of having to enumerate examples of what can be, because we’ll never arrive at exhaustiveness, nor predictiveness: we’ll never nail down every conceivable example that might be tested. Imo this is where you use an illustrative example, or two, to give a representational idea of the concept and the goal, then, is to apply that knowledge rather than for us to include

That being said, this can still be a useful thing. 100% I think this is a good spot for an illustrative example, though, which can make use of the same thing: “ex: Empathy and delayed gratification are examples of behaviors correlated with high emotional intelligence.”

That sounds good to me as an example and I totally agree.
