@Ahmed7 is there a video in the canvas explaining how to make GIFs from youtube videos? Also did you ask this guy permission or is anything on youtube basically fair game to upload in terms of copyright and that stuff

I actually think this is copyrighted, i didnt push this so i will check when im home in a bit. Making gifs is easy from youtube videos but the problem is finding out if its copyright or not. Youtube removed the creative commons option under videos in 2021 or something. The INO one was actually a open access article which is why i was able to use it even though they used a embedded youtube video

@herstein.jacob I believe you pushed this correct? Can you check if this was copyright free? I can’t find anything on the video or his website

There’s two ways to make GIFs, either use GIF making site or use a app like CleanShotX and record a GIF

You can download a YouTube video, then upload it here to this site Animated GIF Maker

Then you can customize etc. Tbh making gifs is the most tedious, and also you need to make sure the file size is not insanely large because sometimes it can be like 60 MB. Ideally we want everything to be less than 5-10 MB at the absolute maximum

That does sound annoying. I wonder if we could reach out to any of these medical youtubers and ask them for permission to make GIFs out of their videos? The one for this video has a LinkedIn profile maybe we could reach out to him through that?

Email would be better, can you check if he has one? We have a email template we typically use to reach out to creators to ask for permission to use their content in a commercial manner. I can send him an email

I believe I took this from YouTube, thought that everything on there was considered Creative Commons… whoops! We can remove if needed

Bummer! On a related note I found a bunch of Neuros videos that we could probably clip from that are Creative Commons (CC BY-NC-SA 1.0 DEED). The only thing with this CC license is that they can’t be used for commercial use. So I’m not sure where AnKing falls with respect to that since Ankihub is a paid product but we are unpaid volunteers uploading the stuff.

Yes unfortunately we cannot use NC licenses

I have contacted the person (thank you @Eli.Tanenbaum for providing the email) lets hope for a positive response. Its either they never reply or they’re usually more than happy to allow us to use it
