I dunno about this. I get the cueing from ‘temporary register’, though I’m not sure ‘place where…is held’ is a great alternative.

Is it a ‘place’ in the sense that we typically mean the term?

We’re also going to run into the inevitable issue that this is verbatim:

Yeah I always found the temporary register to be a pretty big giveaway. {{c1::The sensory register}} is a short-term storage system that temporarily stores information from the senses? I get that our current definition is verbatim though.

I’m not against changing it, just to be clear. I get why it’s a bit like getting hit upside the head, in some ways

But, there are also half a dozen or more suggestions in atm that are roughly the same logic. I also want to be careful about contorting ourselves to try to avoid any and all similar words, and I’m not convinced that we necessarily need to end up running circles to avoid clues (this is inherently not going to be entirely possible in cloze-deletion cards).

Short version: to some degree I think it’s nice to avoid nail-on-the-head clues, but I don’t think it’s desirable to reinvent the wheel avoiding any possible hints (1: not possible, 2: not desirable as an end result or 3: worth the work of re-engineering countless sentences).

For sure I think ‘place where it’s held’ ends up being worse-sounding by a good margin, for example. Imo that actually introduces too much ambiguity and imprecision in language, that would inevitably be counter-productive.

If we’re going to change it, the resulting language should be at least as good, if not superior, to the original.
