Adding cards for an optional tag in Anking step deck

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

You should be able to add cards locally, to your personal collection, and tag those cards however you like. But, those cards won’t be publishable or able to be synced via the optional tag so it won’t be possible for others to access them, if that makes sense.

If you would like to make cards that are shareable, though, you’d have to make a separate deck (which would, necessarily, involve different tags as the tags can’t be identical owing to AnkiHub’s handling of tag routines).

If you have material that you’re wanting to cover, that isn’t otherwise touched on in the AnKing Step deck, typically folks end up making cards for that material. This might entail making a new deck, for example, if you’re aiming to share those cards with other people.

I’m not aware of any singular source that covers top-down formatting guidelines, though I can point you to a couple of things that tend to make the rounds:

Both offer some degree of best-practices, at least as exercised and preferred by the AnKing Team, which might be the closest I can neatly offer. We are working on some style guides, at least for in-house use, though they may still be a ways off from being published for any outside use. Hopefully that’s of some help, though. :mending_heart:

It depends to some degree on where you’re sourcing the images. Some images are open-license, and others are limited to varying degrees. There isn’t a single answer there, unfortunately, though when in doubt using open-license imaging removes any concerns over legalities and similar. As a general rule, wikipedia and OpenStax images tend to be open-license, and so are popular areas to source imaging.

Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with.
