Addon Database Error

Hello,

Every time I sync on anki web or attempt to change any of the settings on the anking step 1 deck I get this following error:

DbError { info: “SqliteFailure(Error { code: DatabaseCorrupt, extended_code: 11 }, Some(\“database disk image is malformed\”))”, kind: Other }

This problem does not happen on anki mobile. What should I do about this?

Hi Harshirav,

I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing this database error. The message “database disk image is malformed” indicates that your AnkiHub database may be corrupted. This is a known issue that can sometimes occur with Anki databases.

Hi Harshirav,

It looks like you’re experiencing a database corruption issue with the AnkiHub add-on. The error “database disk image is malformed” indicates that your Anki database has become corrupted.

Here’s what I recommend to fix this issue:

First steps to try:

  1. Restart Anki completely and try again.

  2. Check your database integrity:

    • In Anki, go to Tools → Check Database
    • This might identify and fix the corruption
  3. Try disabling other add-ons temporarily:

    • Close Anki
    • Restart Anki while holding down the Shift key (this starts Anki without add-ons)
    • If this works, it suggests another add-on might be conflicting with AnkiHub

If the problem persists:

  1. Restore from a backup:

    • Anki automatically creates backups
    • Go to File → Switch Profile → Open Backup
    • Choose a recent backup from before the issue started
  2. Check your storage location:

    • Make sure Anki is not storing files on a network drive or cloud-synced folder
    • Network filesystems can lead to database corruption
  3. Reinstall AnkiHub add-on:

    • In Anki, go to Tools → Add-ons
    • Delete the AnkiHub add-on
    • Restart Anki
    • Reinstall the AnkiHub add-on

Since the issue doesn’t occur on AnkiMobile, it suggests this is specific to your desktop installation of Anki or the AnkiHub add-on configuration.

If none of these steps help, please provide more information about:

  • Your Anki version
  • Your AnkiHub add-on version
  • Your operating system
  • Any other add-ons you’re using

This will help us provide more targeted assistance for your specific situation.

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

You might try the ‘check database’ option:

In a pinch, you might also try restoring from a backup, though keep in mind that this may also erase some review progress in so doing: How to Restore From Backup

The error message looks to be an error message from Anki, rather than AnkiHub, but you might give that a shot and see if it helps. If that doesn’t do the trick, you might reach out on the official Anki forums for assistance with the database: https://forums.ankiweb.net/

Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with.
