Ankihub was the addon that had anki running in the background, which would not allow me to reopen it after closing the app unless I went into Task Manager and ended the python task. After ending the task, it would allow me once again, but it is a perpetual loop unless I toggle the addon.
I have gone through the manual and did as it said, signing out and resigning in, uninstalling and deleted the addon file as a whole and then reinstalling. I have also looked on the forums.
The only partial solution that seem to work is AnkiHubConfig –> Auto Sync with Ankihub –> Never.
Just want to update that this issue is still present, its a minor issue but have to force close a python process from task manager to get anki to boot again, it never seems to break anything so seems to just be something on shutdown that is stopping anki process from exiting and it just hangs
Yes disabling auto sync to “never” eliminates bug.
Sync on startup also creates bug.
If start anki with no start up sync but then change sync mode to always sync such that it sync on closure the bug is not present. This leads me to believe that this bug is related to the startup sync and the sync on exit isn’t actually creating the bug. Hopefully that makes sense. If it sync on startup and i disable the sync when closing the bug happens so the exit sync isn’t the issue at all. its the startup initial sync that is making anki process hang upon closing anki
Just want follow up, after testing more with sync settings, this bug behaves inconsistent and I cannot recreate it 100% of the time, it happens the vast majority of times, apologies
I’m still not sure what’s causing this, but I think it’s became an issue after the Anki installation method changed in recent versions. The next Anki release will change this again, so this might be fixed as part of that. I’ll keep an eye on that.
